Employers - Pre-Apprenticeships - Work Trials (e2e)

Apprenticeships will help your business stay competitive by developing the kind of people and skills your business needs for the future.

They offer training in a wide range of areas from business administration to specialist skills, such as engineering and IT, focusing on the whole job, not just individual skills. Apprentices learn through a combination of on- and offthe- job education and training. On-the-job, they work alongside your staff, to learn their jobs and become competent. Off-the-job they undertake specific occupationally related training and qualifications through PETA or a college (usually on a day release basis).

You can employ someone as an apprentice or train an existing member of staff, nominating them to join our programme

Alternatively you could sponsor an apprentice with the intention of employing them either during or at the end of the programme when a suitable vacancy arises. In sponsoring an apprentice you would be required to make a weekly contribution to PETA who, in turn, pay a weekly allowance to the apprentice. The benefit of using this approach is that the apprentice does not show on your headcount. There may be a contribution towards the cost of training and education from the Learning and Skills Council. Please ask for details.

There are two levels: Apprenticeship and advanced. Apprenticeships usually last at least a year and apprentices work towards a National Vocational Qualification at Level 2, Key Skills and in most cases a technical certificate. Advanced Apprenticeships usually last two to four years and apprentices work towards a National Vocational Qualification at Level 3, Key Skills and a technical certificate.
